About Me
My name is Naomi Lopez and I am an Instructional Designer at FIU Online. I have been a part of the FIU community since July 2018. My early career began as a mental health therapist where I worked with a very diverse population. After gaining experience with neuro-psychology and training foster parents on ways to assist the children in their care, I changed over to the field of learning and development. I have a strong passion for how we learn and retain information, and my experience working with children has helped me greatly in this regard. As an Instructional Designer, my strength is to approach learning opportunities with interactive solutions to keep learners engaged. I've worked as an instructional designer in the past building training for Nordstrom, American Express, two mental health facilities as well as a local art handling company.
On my off-time, I work alongside my partner in a home-based amp repair shop. I build microphones, modify mixing consoles, and repair amplifiers. We also own and manage a music recording studio which gives me a unique opportunity in approaching multimedia related components within my role as an Instructional Designer.
I think we are all lifetime learners, and I embrace the vast amount of information we have at our disposal with excitement, curiosity, and an unyielding desire to grow. I am so excited to be a part of my team, and I look forward to a long future with FIU Online!
